Wema Sepetu’s touching message to Samia Suluhu after husband’s death

Wema Sepetu has sent a touching message to Tanzanian President Samia Suluhu Hassan following the death of her husband, Hafidh Ameir Hassan, as she offered her condolences during this difficult period.
The Tanzanian actress shared a message of support for Samia, describing Hafidh as someone important to the president. Wema asked God to give the Tanzanian leader strength as she comes to terms with the loss of her husband.
“Pole Mama wangu mzuri… Mungu akutie nguvu katika kipindi hiki kigumu unachopitia kuondokewa na mtu muhimu sana kwako ambaye alikuwa ni Mumeo, Mhe Hafidh Ameir Hassan,” Wema Sepetu said.
Wema also recalled a moment involving Samia and her ‘grandchild’, Baby Ollie, saying that despite the pain, the president had asked about the child when she saw her.

“Pamoja na machungu lakini alivyoniona mwenyewe akamuulizia na mjukuu wake, “Baby Ollie”… Ollie nimemuacha mikono salama na Bibi yake kuja kwako mama angu kukupa pole,” Wema Sepetu said on Sunday, September 13, 2026.
Wema stands with Samia
Wema went on to express her strong affection for Samia, referring to her as an “Iron Lady” while asking God to bless her. She also said that she and those close to her loved the Tanzanian president as she offered further words of comfort.
“Tunapenda sana sisi apa... The Love I have for this Iron Lady is outta this World… God bless you, Mama,” Wema Sepetu said.
Hafidh Ameir Hassan, husband of Tanzanian President Samia Suluhu Hassan, died, leaving Tanzania mourning the loss of its First Gentleman. The death also prompted messages of condolence from leaders, including Kenyan President William Ruto.

Ruto confirmed the news on the morning of Monday, September 7, 2026, and sent a message of condolence to Samia, her family and the people of Tanzania. He said he had received the news of Hafidh’s death with deep sorrow.
“I have received with deep sorrow the news of the passing of Hafidh Ameir Hassan, husband of Her Excellency Dr Samia Suluhu Hassan, President of the United Republic of Tanzania,” William Ruto said.
Ruto described Hafidh’s death as a profound loss for President Samia and her family, noting the different roles he had played in their lives.
