Rayvanny confirms he attended Charlene Ruto’s Koito as he shares video dancing at the event

Tanzanian singer and Next Level Music CEO Raymond Shaban Mwakyusa, popularly known as Rayvanny, has revealed that he was among the dignitaries and A-listers who attended the traditional wedding ceremony of President William Ruto’s daughter, Charlene Ruto, in Kilgoris, Narok County.

In a TikTok video shared hours after the wedding on Saturday, August 8, 2026, the ‘Tetema’ hitmaker is seen dancing at the reception, where a huge white banner with customised edges was, bearing details of the First Daughter’s Koito ceremony.

He was dressed in a white suit and had his hair knitted into many small portions, forming a pattern of black knots.

He then made some slow dance moves to his hit song ‘Urimwiza’ and added that he was recording the video live from Kenya.

Traditional Kalenjin engagement

Charlene Chelagat Ruto celebrated her traditional Kalenjin engagement and farewell ceremony, known as Koito ak Chaik, on Saturday, August 8, 2026, bringing together prominent political figures, business personalities, and other high-profile guests from Kenya and Tanzania.

The private ceremony was held at Intonna Heritage Farm, President William Ruto’s expansive family ranch in Kilgoris Town, Narok County.

Guests began arriving at the homestead from around 10am, with the event taking place under strict security and privacy arrangements.

At the centre of the ceremony was Charlene’s engagement to Tanzanian tech entrepreneur, social entrepreneur and global innovator Isaiah Yunge, also known as Yunke.

Yunge is the founder of SomaApp, a platform connecting African students with international scholarship opportunities, and the CEO of Goodsam Technologies. He has previously been recognised on the Forbes Africa 30 Under 30 list and received the Queen’s Young Leaders Award in 2018.

The formal invitations to the ceremony were issued by Charlene’s parents, President William Ruto and First Lady Rachel Ruto. The invitations carried the family’s blessing drawn from Psalm 91:11.

The occasion was significant beyond its high-profile guest list because of the cultural meaning attached to the Koito rite.

In Kalenjin tradition, Koito is an important stage in the marriage process in which the groom’s family formally visits the bride’s family. The occasion provides an opportunity for the two families to come together, exchange gifts and undertake discussions connected to the union, including bride-price negotiations.
