Manchester City responds to noise and wild speculation after being found guilty

Manchester City chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak has written a direct open letter to supporters following intense media coverage and public reactions surrounding the club’s ongoing legal battle with the Premier League.
In a message published on Saturday, September 26, 2026, the chairman addressed the growing noise and speculation, urging fans to stay united as the regulatory process continues.
Standing firm on innocence
Reflecting on his 18-year journey at the Etihad Stadium, Al Mubarak revealed that he, like many supporters, spent time answering questions from family and friends following recent news reports.
He reiterated that the club remains completely steadfast in its legal position despite intense external pressure.
“The Premier League process still has a long way to run, and our confidence and intent in proving the Club’s innocence is just as strong as when this began,” Al Mubarak stated in the letter.
He acknowledged that strict confidentiality rules prevent the club from disclosing specific legal details, noting that even his letter underwent legal checks before release. He also claimed that rival forces are aiming to destabilise the English champions.
“There remain many who want to undermine the momentum of our Club. We will not give them that opportunity,” he added.
Respecting due process and looking ahead
In an official club statement issued on Friday, September 25, 2026, Manchester City reaffirmed its long-standing position first outlined in February 2023.
The club stressed that it has respected due process for eight years, operating under the expectation that the Premier League board would act as an independent, impartial, and fair-minded regulator.
City previously welcomed the review by an independent commission, maintaining that it possesses a “comprehensive body of irrefutable evidence” to clear its name once and for all.
Despite the legal storm, the chairman urged fans to shift their focus back to the pitch, pointing to key upcoming fixtures after the international break. City travel to Anfield to face Liverpool in a fortnight before hosting Paris Saint-Germain in the UEFA Champions League at the Etihad Stadium.
“While some people have been quick to reach their own conclusions, and there is so much noise swirling around us, nothing has changed. We have faced challenges together before and have prevailed,” Al Mubarak concluded.
