Charlene Ruto calls for greater youth role in shaping the future

President William Ruto’s daughter, Charlene Ruto, has called for greater involvement of young people in conversations and decisions shaping the future.
Charlene shared the message after attending the World Logic Forum 2026 in New York, where she joined leaders and professionals from different generations and sectors for discussions on healthcare, philanthropy, leadership, and the future.
In a post shared on her Instagram page on Sunday, September 20, 2026, she reflected on her experience at the forum and the lessons she took from the conversations.

The World Logic Forum was held in New York on September 17, 2026, alongside the United Nations General Assembly week.
The gathering, organised by Logictry and The Logic Circle Foundation, brought together emerging leaders, philanthropists, investors, family offices, health leaders and other professionals to discuss issues affecting different parts of society.
The forum focused on areas including the future of healthcare, sustainable philanthropy and capitalism and democracy. Its programme also included conversations about next-generation leadership and how people from different sectors and generations can work together.
Charlene was listed among the discussion leaders at the forum, including a session on preparing the next generation to lead and the role of philanthropy in a changing world.
Reflecting on the experience, Charlene said being around people with different backgrounds allowed her to hear different views on issues affecting society.
“It was refreshing to be in a room with people from different generations, industries and parts of the world, having honest conversations about healthcare, philanthropy, leadership and the future,” she said.
Charlene on giving young people a seat at the table
One of the main lessons Charlene said she took from the forum was the need for different generations to work together when dealing with complex challenges. She noted that issues facing society cannot always be handled within one sector or by one generation.
For Charlene, young people should not only be included in discussions about the future but should also be given opportunities to take responsibility and contribute to decisions.
“One thing I took away is that the challenges we face today require us to think beyond sectors and generations. We need young people at the table, but more importantly, we need to trust them with the responsibility to help shape what comes next,” she said.
Her remarks echoed the forum’s wider focus on intergenerational collaboration and creating opportunities for the next generation of leaders to take part in conversations about the future.

The forum also allowed Charlene to interact with people working in different fields and exchange ideas beyond her usual areas of focus.
She said the conversations and connections made during the event left her with more to learn and contribute.
“I’m grateful for the conversations, the connections and the opportunity to learn from so many incredible people. There is still so much work to do, and I’m excited to keep playing my part,” she said.
The World Logic Forum describes its wider goal as creating spaces where different generations and sectors can exchange ideas and work towards solutions to complex global challenges.
For Charlene, her participation in the New York gathering provided another opportunity to highlight the place of young people in conversations about leadership, social issues and the future.
