Mkamburi Chigogo questions why some young women in entertainment look older than their age

Radio host Mkamburi Chigogo has questioned the appearance of some young women in the entertainment industry, saying some 23- and 24-year-olds look much older than their age.
She said young adults should maintain an appearance that matches their age and expressed surprise at what she described.
The radio host shared her thoughts while commenting on the appearance of young women in the entertainment industry. She said she is often surprised when someone says they have just turned 23 or 24 because of how old they appear.
“Some of these 23/24 year old girlies in the entertainment industry wamezeeka vibaya mno!!! Yesu weeee,” Mkamburi Chigogo said on Tuesday, September 22, 2026.
Mkamburi said the issue becomes more noticeable when she learns the age of some of the women she sees in the entertainment space. She explained that she finds it surprising when a young woman says she is in her early twenties but appears much older.

“Someone says they just turned 23/24 and jaw drops because why are you looking like a huntie at such a young tender age???? Ηαυυυυ,” Mkamburi said.
She added that young people should be able to look their age. Mkamburi said she believes there is a clear difference between being a young adult and appearing much older, and she stressed her view without leaving room for debate.
“Young adults should look like young adults! Full stop,” Mkamburi Chigogo said.
The remarks are in line with Mkamburi’s habit of speaking openly about issues affecting women and relationships. Recently, she warned women to be careful when men describe them as strong and independent women, saying such statements may carry a different meaning.
“Na nataka kuambia hawa warembo. Unaona hawa wanaume wanapenda kuwaambia sijui you are strong, sijui you are a strong independent woman. You know you have to be very careful of such statements,” Mkamburi Chigogo said on Tuesday, September 15, 2026.
She explained that women should not automatically take such compliments at face value, especially when they come from men who are interested in them. Mkamburi said a man may genuinely like a woman while using the description, but she urged women to understand the possible meaning behind the words.
“Sometimes inaweza kuwa mtu anakupenda kweli ndio anakuambia hivyo. Lakini wewe jua tu, hizo ni statement za kukuregesha kama mwanaume mwenzake,” Mkamburi said.
