Simon Kabu reveals how he was conned while planning to open a church

Businessman Simon Kabu has revealed how he was conned while planning to become a full-time pastor and open his own church on Jogoo Road.
Kabu said he had spent a whole year saving money to buy church equipment before the incident at Luthuli.
Kabu shared the experience while recalling how his plans to start a church were affected by what he described as the treatment he received in Luthuli. He said he had already made up his mind to leave other activities behind and focus on becoming a pastor.
“Here I had decided to become a full-time pastor…pale Jogoo Road…after saving for a whole year ninunue vyombo vya Kanisa so that I open my own church,” Simon Kabu said on Tuesday, September 22, 2026.
He explained that the plan involved using the money he had saved for a year to purchase the equipment needed to start his church. However, he said the experience he went through in Luthuli left him feeling that his plans had taken an unexpected turn.
Kabu said the experience was enough to make him reflect on his plans and the challenges that can come with doing business in Nairobi. He shared the account in a post while also asking other people to share their own experiences of being conned.

Kabu did not give further details about the nature of the incident at Luthuli in the information he shared. He instead asked people who had gone through similar experiences to tell him what happened to them.
“Have you ever been conned? What happened, share with me kwa comments section tuchanuane,” Simon Kabu said.
The businessman has previously spoken about his humble upbringing and the difficult experiences he faced while growing up. During an interview with Obidan Dela on Thursday, April 23, 2026, he recalled carrying githeri to school for lunch when he was in primary school.
Kabu shared the story while discussing the childhood of Musa Kihara, popularly known as the “Kwa Mbae boy”. He said his own experience growing up had also involved hardship, drawing a connection between his childhood and the young boy’s struggles.
