Diamond Platnumz explains why he missed his daughter Tiffah’s birthday in South Africa

Tanzanian singer Diamond Platnumz has explained why he missed his daughter Tiffah’s 11th birthday celebration in South Africa despite making plans to attend the special occasion.
Speaking on Wasafi TV in a video shared on his Instagram page on Tuesday, August 11, 2026, Diamond said he had made arrangements to travel to South Africa with family, friends and fellow musicians for the celebration.
The singer said the plans included chartering a private jet and organising a celebration that would bring together people close to Tiffah.
Travel permit setback
Diamond said the group arrived at the airport early in the morning, ready to travel, but their plans were disrupted by an issue with the required travel permit.
He explained that despite waiting and trying to resolve the matter, the permit was not obtained in time for them to make the journey. “We had planned everything; we organised the venue, brought together family, close friends and fellow artists like Nandy, Marioo and Rayvanny, and we even chartered a private jet,” he said.
According to Diamond, the group arrived at the airport at around 10 am but could not proceed with the journey because of the administrative issue. The setback meant he could not be present for his daughter’s birthday, something he said was difficult for him as a father.
‘I feel terrible’
Diamond expressed disappointment over missing the celebration, particularly because of the effort that had gone into preparing for the occasion.
He said fathers often want to be present for important moments in their children’s lives and give them memorable celebrations. “As a dad, I feel terrible about missing her special day after putting so much into it,” he said.
Despite his disappointment, the singer said he had chosen to look at the situation from a different perspective. He suggested that the delay could have prevented an unexpected problem during the journey.
“At the end of the day, I believe God plans everything for a reason; maybe He was protecting us from an accident or a worse problem on the way,” Diamond added.
He also said another celebration could be organised for Tiffah, either in Tanzania or South Africa, allowing him to mark the occasion with his daughter.
Tiffah turns 11
Diamond’s remarks come after businesswoman and reality TV star Zari Hassan celebrated their daughter Tiffah as she turned 11 on August 6, 2026. Zari shared a series of black-and-white photographs from her daughter’s birthday photoshoot while describing Tiffah as a blessing in her life.
Princess Tiffah, whose full name is Latiffah, is Diamond’s first daughter. She is one of the two children Zari and Diamond share. Although the two ended their romantic relationship years ago, they have continued to co-parent their children and publicly mark important family occasions.
Tiffah has also grown up in the public eye, with both parents regularly sharing moments from her life with their followers.
For Diamond, however, her 11th birthday became an occasion he could only watch from afar, as an unexpected travel setback kept him away from the celebration he had spent time preparing for.
