Adelle Onyango: The initial year of my divorce was hell

Adelle Onyango has opened up about the difficult first year of her divorce, describing it as a painful period that came with many things to deal with.
The radio and media personality explained that going through divorce was not easy, especially when she had several responsibilities to manage. She said she had to rely on people around her while also keeping up with work.
“The initial year of my divorce was hell. I would not wish that on… it is not easy. When you are in the thick of it, and there is so much to think about,” Adelle Onyango said in her podcast on Friday, August 14, 2026.
Adelle explained that the period required her to put different parts of her life together as she dealt with the changes. She said she needed support from people close to her while also making sure she handled important matters. The media personality said work was another responsibility she had to continue managing during that difficult time.

“So you have to assemble your… my lawyer, my friends checking if I have eaten. And then there is work… it is a lot. Give yourself grace,” Adelle Onyango said.
Adelle opens up about her marriage
Adelle previously shared details about her marriage to Falgun Bhojak and explained how differences in expectations contributed to the end of their union. She reflected on how their relationship began happily before challenges emerged over time. The media personality said the changes eventually affected both their home and marriage.
Adelle explained that their first Christmas together was wonderful, while the second was also joyful. However, she said things had changed by their third Christmas together. She recalled that the home they shared no longer felt the same, and neither did the marriage.

“In our third year together, it was not just our apartment that didn’t feel like home, but also my marriage,” Adelle Onyango said.
The media personality explained that she also came to understand that the wife her former husband wanted was different from the woman she was. She said the differences between them became clearer as they continued experiencing disagreements. Adelle recalled that their arguments eventually led to a difficult conversation between the two.
She explained that one evening while they were in bed, her former husband told her she had refused to give him three things he considered important in a marriage. Adelle said these were having a child, wearing a ring and taking his surname.
