Police pursuing father, uncle caught on camera assaulting minor

Police in Bunyala Sub-County are pursuing two persons of interest, reported to be the guardians filmed assaulting a minor.
In a statement on Monday, November 11, 2024, the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) revealed that Edwin Ogolla and Denis Asabu are wanted for the assault of a minor as captured on a camera recording that has been widely shared on various social media outlets.
“While presenting the minor at Port Victoria Police Station, children’s officers informed the police that the heart-wrenching incident took place three months ago at the minor’s home located in the Musoma area,” DCI stated.
“During the incident, the minor’s uncle, namely Edwin Ogolla, was captured on camera while manhandling him as his father recorded the happenings without an iota of guilt.”
Police say that the minor suffered serious injuries that are still healing due to a lack of immediate medical attention.
“When the incident came to light, children’s officers took the minor to hospital where he was treated and the medical form (P3) filled. Further, detectives in Bunyala recorded witness statements and launched hot pursuit for the two ruffians,” DCI added.
The two are on the run and believed to be holed up in a neighbouring country.
“However, pragmatic measures are underway to flush them out and bring them to justice,” DCI added.
