3 arrested as police seize 810 rolls of bhang in Kasarani raid

Police officers from the National Police Service conducted an anti-narcotics operation in Kasarani, Nairobi, on Monday, June 9, 2025, arresting three individuals and seizing approximately 50 kilograms of cannabis sativa, 30 hash-infused cookies, and 810 rolls of bhang.

The National Police Service (NPS), in a statement issued via social media on Monday, June 9, 2025, said the operation was part of ongoing intelligence-led efforts to combat drug trafficking.

“Today, 9 June 2025, National Police Service officers from Kasarani conducted an operation during which they arrested three individuals and recovered approximately 50 kilograms of cannabis sativa (bhang), 30 hash-infused cookies, and 810 rolls of bhang,” the police statement read.

The three arrested individuals have been placed in police custody at Kasarani Police Station, awaiting arraignment in court, while the exhibits have been secured at the same facility.

“The individuals were arrested and placed in custody at Kasarani Police Station, awaiting arraignment in court, while the seized narcotics were secured in the same facility,” the police statement added.

The National Police Service commended the local community for its continued cooperation and timely information that led to the success of the operation.

“We applaud members of the public who continue to support our efforts by providing information that leads to successful arrests and recoveries,” the police statement read.

Similar incident

The arrest comes just a day after officers from Bungoma West sub-county arrested one woman and seized 154 rolls of cannabis sativa following an operation conducted on Sunday, June 8, 2025.

The National Police Service (NPS), in a similar statement issued via social media, said that the operation followed a tip-off from members of the public.

“Today, 8 June 2025, National Police Service (NPS) officers from Bungoma West Sub-County, acting on a tip-off from members of the public, raided the home of one Beatrice Nekesa Wafula in Nabuloli Village and recovered 154 rolls of cannabis sativa,” the police statement read.

The person of interest was placed in police custody at Sirisia Police Station, awaiting arraignment at Sirisia Law Courts, while the exhibits were also secured there.

“The suspect was arrested and placed in custody at Sirisia Police Station, awaiting arraignment at Sirisia Law Courts, while the exhibits were secured in the same facility,” the police statement read.

The National Police Service similarly commended the vigilance of the local community, whose timely information led to the successful operation.

“We laud members of the public who continue to support our efforts by providing information that led to this successful arrest and recovery,” the police statement read.
