Socialite and reality TV star Vera Sidika has finally addressed the swirling rumours about her financial status, which erupted following her recent club hosting engagement in Busia.

In an Instagram post on Tuesday, June 10, 2025, the socialite lamented that netizens had been relentless in forcing her to accept the label of being broke, insisting that she felt exhausted by the relentless onslaught of public scrutiny.

According to her, it was rather amusing that people would make such assertions about her, and she felt it was only right to confront the matter head-on in order to prevent it from escalating further and to reclaim her own peace of mind.

“This narrative you all are imposing is rather amusing. Therefore, let me set the record straight so that everyone may be satisfied and I may finally find peace,” Vera posted.

Financial hardship

Contrary to what many had anticipated, Vera sarcastically admitted that she was indeed broke, as the rumours had been propagating far and wide.

She further explained that she did not perceive any disgrace or issue in experiencing financial difficulty, insisting that she hoped her explanation would bring calm to the entire situation.

“Yes, I am broke. It is not a crime to be broke. I hope you can all cease now,” she added.

Simultaneously, Vera extended a tender message to her followers, expressing gratitude and affection despite the controversy surrounding her financial admission.

“Love and light,” she concluded.

The socialite’s explanation comes just days after she laughed off rumours that she has fallen on hard times after making a club appearance in Busia County.

The internet went ablaze after the veteran socialite did a gig at a local club in the western county.

Social media was quick to throw shade, with some netizens cheekily claiming she is now touring remote towns to keep the lights on.

But Vera quickly hit back at the critics through her Instagram stories on Tuesday, June 3, 2025.

She questioned why people were making a big deal out of her visiting Busia and reminded her followers that she enjoys connecting with fans from all corners of the country.

She said it is funny that Kenyans use the phrase “recession indicator” every time someone does something ordinary. Vera made it clear that there is absolutely nothing wrong with making a club appearance in Busia.

“It seems like Kenyans have just discovered a new vocabulary, ‘recession indicator.’” Kwani, what’s wrong with me making a club appearance in Busia? “I love connecting with my fans in all parts of the country,” Vera Sidika stated.

The mother of two has been actively making appearances across Kenya, including towns like Eldoret, Kisii, and Naivasha. According to her, these visits are part of her effort to engage with her supporters and enjoy what she does.

Lavish lifestyle

The criticism came just a few months after she shared what she described as the best phase of her life. In an Instagram post shared on February 21, 2025, she reflected on how far she had come.

Among the highlights was a luxurious cabin getaway in the US, which she called an unforgettable experience.

She said she has been living her best life and could not ask for more.

Earlier this year, she also splashed out over Ksh42,000 on a spa treatment, though she joked that the massage was disappointing and left her needing another one to recover. She also revealed that she booked a flight to the US just to escape Nairobi’s hot weather, spending Ksh868,995 on the ticket.

Vera’s love for luxury and travel is well documented. In 2024 alone, she visited 13 countries and went on more than 20 trips.

Some destinations she visited more than once. Her travel list included Qatar, Canada, the USA, and Jamaica.

While sharing her plans for 2025, she mentioned that she hopes to visit Bali, Mexico, the Bahamas, Jamaica (again), and the Dominican Republic.

Jamaica’s return to her list is particularly interesting since she made headlines in 2024 for getting stuck at a security checkpoint in the Caribbean nation due to her famously curvy figure.

During a stop in Manchester, UK, she underwent a jawline enhancement procedure and later showed off her new look, joking that people keep asking how many faces she has. She said she now has “face number 35” and added that life is too short to care about societal opinions.

Vera closed out 2024 by reflecting on her year of globe-trotting, including local travels within Kenya. She described the experience as a perfect balance and asked her fans to suggest new destinations for her 2025 adventures.
