Terence Creative: Kenyans should stop judging entire communities by one person’s mistake
Content creator Terence Creative has urged Kenyans to stop stereotyping entire communities based on the actions or statements of one individual.
His comments come in the wake of a recent controversy sparked by remarks made by Nyeri Governor Mutahi Kahiga, which caused tension and mixed reactions across the country.

Speaking in a video message on Thursday, October 23, 2025, Terence said it was time Kenyans moved past the culture of generalising communities whenever a leader makes a mistake or a divisive statement.
“Governor Mmoja pande za Nyeri alisema kitu and mko hapo mkisema, ‘Ohhh anga wakikuyu.’ Gone are the days when you will generalise a community because someone has done something wrong,” he said.
The comedian added that not every person from a given tribe shares the same views, reminding Kenyans that individuals should take responsibility for their own actions.

“Kitambo mlikua mnasema, ‘Ohh, wakisi wako na hasira,’ no no… ni some. Alright? Ohh wajaluo wakona maringo… Si wote. Sawa? Wacheni kutuweka kwa mambo ya gavana. Kila mtu abebe msalaba wake,” he said.
Calls for unity
Terence said that Kenyans must not allow political statements to divide them along tribal or regional lines. He said the country has made progress toward unity and peace, and that such progress should not be undermined by a few individuals.
His message appeared to call for calm after the comments made by Governor Kahiga stirred mixed feelings both politically and socially. Kahiga had earlier made remarks about the late Raila Odinga, suggesting that his death was an act of divine intervention meant to end confusion in the political landscape. The statement was widely shared, sparking public criticism and debate.
Terence, however, urged Kenyans to focus on peace and understanding rather than spreading hate or blame. He reminded the public that tribal stereotypes have long fuelled division and that it is every citizen’s duty to protect national unity.
As discussions surrounding the governor’s comments continue, Terence’s call for tolerance has added a voice of reason, encouraging Kenyans to reflect on the power of their words and the importance of viewing each other as individuals rather than representatives of entire communities.
