EPL week 3 fixtures: Arsenal and Chelsea meet in London Derby as Man United face tricky Everton

The Premier League action is set to return with Matchday 3 fixtures kicking off this Friday, September 4, 2026. The league’s early pace has already been established, with Manchester City, newcomers Hull City, Chelsea, and champions Arsenal the only teams to win both of their opening fixtures.
Liverpool will open the weekend’s encounters with a tricky tie away at Portman Road to face Ipswich Town this Friday. The Reds needed a Víctor Muñoz strike inside the final ten minutes to salvage a second consecutive league draw at home to Nottingham Forest.
The outcome left Andoni Iraola’s side still searching for their first league victory, having seen their opener end in a similar fashion after salvaging a point at Newcastle United.
Ipswich will seek to make amends after a heavy defeat to Manchester United delivered by a devastating Bruno Fernandes’ hat-trick. Gary O’Neil’s side will take encouragement from their first-half display before a controversial own goal punctured their resolve to fight for successive wins following their opening weekend victory.
London Derby
Meanwhile, Arsenal will face the first real test of their title defense coming right to their doorstep at the Emirates in the shape of Chelsea. The London rivals will clash in a high-stakes derby at 6:30 pm, with both sides seeking to extend their respective winning starts to the campaign.
It will be a battle of best attack against best defense as Xabi Alonso’s revamped team, boasting the attacking trio of Cole Palmer, João Pedro, and Morgan Rogers, faces an Arsenal backline that has yet to concede a goal this season.
Saturday fixtures
Enzo Maresca’s Manchester City will be back on their Etihad turf to host Coventry City on Saturday, September 5, 2026.
The clash will see Frank Lampard return to his former club for a battle of the Sky Blues. Lampard has not picked up a point in his opening two games and faces the pressure of getting the newcomers back on track against a team approaching the match on the high of a 4-2 win over Crystal Palace.
The other 5:00 pm kick-offs will feature Newcastle at home against Bournemouth and Tottenham Hotspur travelling away to face Nottingham Forest. Aston Villa will wrap up Saturday’s encounters at 7:30 pm against an unbeaten Hull City.
On Sunday, the London derby will take centre stage, while Manchester United is also set for action at Hill Dickinson Stadium against Everton.
Michael Carrick’s charges showed character in bouncing back from their opening loss to Hull and now face an Everton side that needed a late goal to draw with the Cherries in their second fixture.
