Musician and drummer Savara Mudigi has opened up on the reason Sauti Sol has maintained a spotless reputation and avoided scandals throughout their more than twenty years in the music industry.

Speaking during an interview with Alex Mwakideu on Wednesday, November 26, 2025, Savarah explained that many artistes fall into scandals because they lose focus or stop being hungry for their craft after achieving success.

He shared that he and the members of Sauti Sol have always remained goal-oriented, which has helped them avoid involvement in even a single scandal.

“I experienced Sauti Sol while I was in my twenties, and now in my thirties, during my solo career, I am at a mature stage. I still do drumming, and I can never leave it. That is the thing with many artistes: once you stop learning, you start dying,” he said.

He further shared that Sauti Sol’s scandal-free record is built on both individual discipline and a shared culture of professionalism within the band.

He said that each member’s dedication to their craft, combined with a commitment to high standards, has ensured that their public image remains untarnished even as their fame has grown.

“Many release a hit song and then stop rehearsing; maybe after buying a Range Rover, they forget to invest back and push. Unlike them, I am still relevant in the music scene. You have never heard a scandal about me, and you have never heard a scandal about Sauti Sol. I thrived because I am hungry for what I do,” he said.

Savarah recalled his experience attending the Amsterdam Dance Event, one of the largest electronic music festivals in the world, as an African liaison artiste tasked with helping organisers engage with the continent.

He said the experience reinforced his understanding that global success demands constant dedication and a serious work ethic, which in turn helps prevent personal missteps and scandals.

“There was a time I went to the Amsterdam Dance Event, the biggest festival for electronic music. They invited me as an African liaison artiste to help them connect with the continent. I realised that artistes are very serious out there, and such global events show that you need to be really hungry for what you do. To be honest, I am hungry in my career, and the professionalism I have is shared by every Sauti Sol member. It is a collective effort,” he said.
