Oga Obinna reveals reason he does not want to keep beefing with Amber Ray
Hours after a heated back-and-forth tirade between media personality Oga Obinna and socialite Amber Ray brought the internet to a standstill, Obinna has now come out to reveal that he has several personal reasons as to why he does not want the online war of words to continue.
Speaking in a video shared on his Instagram page on Monday, June 9, 2025, just hours after Amber Ray clapped back at him with screenshots of messages he had sent her in 2022, Obinna explained that he can see that the situation is on the verge of exploding, and he has no interest in allowing it to spiral further.
“Oga in the building—so this is probably going to be the last thing I say about this Obinna and Amber Ray matter, because I have seen where this is going, and this is what happens every time there is a misunderstanding between a man and a woman—people immediately assume the man is at fault,” he said.
Obinna, who appeared to be filming from the front seat of his car, then took time to revisit how the beef, which has since become the talk of town, began, saying that it was sparked after his “My Mistakes” show held on the evening of Saturday, June 7, 2025.
He recalled that during the event, he had been cornered by a YouTuber who pressed him to explain why he no longer seemed as close to Amber Ray as they had appeared in the past.
According to him, that was the moment he decided to clear the air, but his remarks quickly triggered a fiery response from Amber Ray, who issued a counter-statement.
“How it started is, I got an interview on my red carpet show and was asked what had happened, so I mentioned something, and then she responded and accused me of being disrespectful,” he explained.
What followed was a whirlwind of online clapbacks, with both parties claiming they had receipts to prove that the other was pushing a twisted narrative.
The online drama escalated rapidly, with Obinna releasing a flurry of video responses while Amber Ray took to her Instagram stories with a series of bold posts.
However, things took another turn when Amber Ray, on the morning of Monday, June 9, 2025, posted nearly five screenshots of past conversations between her and Obinna, in which he appeared to be trying to link her up with a government official who had expressed interest in having coffee with her.
In response, Obinna released a statement saying he now sees clearly that there is little hope of resolving the matter calmly, especially now that fans have begun taking sides, which only adds fuel to the already raging fire.
“And I responded and said I also have receipts, and this is what happened—and then her husband came out as well and said this should have been handled like this,” he added.
On the topic of the leaked messages, Obinna took a moment to defend himself, stating that first and foremost, he is no longer the man he was back then, and he has since grown, both in knowledge and in wisdom.
“So now I have seen receipts from three years ago, but the man I was then is not the man I am today. The knowledge, the wisdom—everything is different. Even of the receipts she shared, she only picked a part of them to frame a certain conversation. Back then, a friend of mine who works at State House asked me to connect him with her for dinner, and I said, Alright, you have misunderstood this, this, and this—and we moved on. Now she has brought the screenshots back and is calling me a pimp,” he stated.
Obinna, in his clapback, has also made it clear that his decision to sign off from the feud does not mean he has been defeated, but rather that he still has other receipts he could use to respond to Amber Ray, although he prefers for mutual respect to be upheld.
He pointed out that he fully understands the far-reaching effects that public exposure can have, and stressed that he deeply respects the fact that Amber Ray is now a married woman.
He added that he also understands that allowing the feud to continue could carry serious consequences—not only for her family but also for his own life and reputation.
“I had a few more receipts I could have shared yesterday and today, but I chose not to. First of all, because of her and Rapudo, there is no need. He is a family man, and they are happily married. So I am keeping quiet for the sake of her, Rapudo, and myself. And you know how it is when a story hits the internet—people always take sides,” he said.
Obinna further explained that one of the biggest reasons he is stepping back is because he is an advocate for men’s mental health, and for him to continue fuelling a toxic online spat would be the opposite of what he stands for and preaches.
“As someone who advocates for mental health, I had to ask myself—if I share these receipts, who will they really help? Who will they hurt?” he concluded.
