Media personality Oga Obinna and his former signee Dem Wa Facebook wowed fans with a spirited performance at the Smiles Caravan event held by content creator Iam Kabugi, leaving many wondering whether they have now reunited.

In a video shared by YouTuber Trudy Kitui on YouTube on Saturday, March 22, 2025, Oga Obinna is seen at the stage in the hall of the Nairobi Cinema, where the event was happening, before wowing fans with a surprise invite to the fast-rising comedienne.

The hall broke into wild jubilation when he announced that it was really her that he was passing the invitation to, and as if that was not enough, the comedienne was brought to the stage while being carried high by his bodyguard Vickerz Munene, sending the fans into an even bigger frenzy.

On getting to the stage, Obinna, who was clad in a sharp blue sleeveless suit, then invited the comedienne—whom he kept referring to as his ‘bebii’ as was routine during their heyday—to a dance, and she did not disappoint him as she whined her back, swaying in smooth to-and-fro moves.

Their performance lasted for a few minutes, and they left the stage together to sit next to each other, bringing months of tension to an end and settling questions about whether they would ever reunite.

The seperation

The two, who started working together after Obinna extended an offer to the comedienne for her to be a co-host on his weekly show, sparked rumours about a separation in November 2024 after Hawk-eyed fans noticed that their show had stopped airing.

This rumour was solidified weeks later after Dem Wa Facebook hosted a glamorous invite-only birthday party, and while many expected Obinna to grace the occasion, he missed it, leaving many with questions.

At the same time, just days after the birthday, both took to social media to share cryptic messages that seemed like a jab at each other.

Dem Wa Facebook shared that she had extended an invitation to certain people who were part of her inner circle and expressed frustration that they never honoured that invitation while stating that the event’s success never depended on them.

“Kuna wenye nilialika hawakuja… Lakini with or without them tulifanya tu event vizuri,” Dem wa Facebook posted.

In what seemed like a rebuttal, Oga Obinna, just hours later, posted a coded message about why ships sink, explaining that they sink because water gets inside—leaving many fans to read meaning into his post.

“Do you know why a ship sinks? It’s not because of the water around it. It’s because of the water that gets inside. If you know, you know,” Oga Obina stated.

Since then, the two have stayed away from each other’s lane, and Obinna’s show went back online but without her, while the comedienne, on her end, kept pushing and signing more deals given her rising star.

Dem Wa facebook refutes claims

However, throughout the entire time, Dem Wa Facebook repeatedly denied any fallout between her and Obinna, insisting that nothing had gone wrong.

When speaking to Milele FM’s Ankali Ray, she was dismissive of the speculation, questioning why people were so invested in their alleged breakup.

“Sitaki umbea, sitaki umbea. Mimi sijui. Hatujakosana na kipindi hakijakatika, yaani mtu hawezi enda break kwa amani. Sasa wewe saa hii huwezi enda Christmas break urudi?” Dem wa Facebook posed.

She went on to insist that their show had not been cancelled and that it was normal for people to take breaks, especially in the entertainment industry. She compared it to how employees go on leave and return to work, stating that taking time off should not automatically mean there was bad blood.

“Mtu hawezi enda break kwa amani?” she posed, reiterating that she saw no reason for people to assume that she and Obinna had parted ways permanently.
