Oga Obinna reveals plans to interview President Ruto days after Gachagua’s sit-down
Days after YouTuber Steve Thompson Maghana, popularly known as Oga Obinna, went viral for conducting an explosive interview with former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, the media personality has unveiled plans to also host President William Ruto for a similar interview.
Speaking in a video shared on his YouTube channel on the night of Sunday, May 18, 2025, Obinna revealed that he intends to pursue an interview with Ruto to gain the other side of the story, given the lengths Gachagua had gone to in hurling shade at the current head of state.
“I want to sit down with William Ruto and many other people so we can also hear that other side of the story, talk and then see what goes where,” he said.

Obinna then said that he was well aware that the Gachagua interview was going to hit nerves even before it took place and revealed that he conducted it with a sense of unease.
However, he said that he now does not regret anything, as it turned out to be the best interview he has ever done, with over 42,000 people watching it live as it went down, while the YouTube upload of the same has since crossed one million views.
“So, I did the interview scared, but like I always say, the thing you feel scared to do, do it scared. But it turned out to be one of the best interviews we have done so far. Over 42,000 people were streaming live; right now, we have just hit 1 million views in just one day, and that is also groundbreaking,” he said.
On that note, he also mentioned another key politician he would want to hear his side of the story from — former President Uhuru Kenyatta, who had also been a central part of Gachagua’s conversations during the interview.
He insisted that despite the seemingly good camaraderie he had with Gachagua, he also wants to practise impartiality and interview all sides so that each has time to defend themselves and tell their story.
“And we have a lot of conversations in the interview that I also want to meet Uhuru Kenyatta as part of the other side so that we can also discuss and hear their story,” Obinna added.

Further, Obinna spilt the beans on the unique things he did not expect to find at Gachagua’s home, including the fact that his wife, Pastor Dorcas, performs all the wifely duties humbly despite her high-class stature.
Obinna revealed that this caught him off guard, as Dorcas, on arrival, was the one treating them to meals, showing them great concern, and knowing everything about her husband Gachagua, including the outfits she wanted him to wear during the sit-down.
According to Obinna, he thought that Dorcas was just like other celebrities, public figures, or high-profile politicians who serve lovey-dovey vibes with their husbands on camera, but once the cameras are off, they go their separate ways and live lives full of heated back-and-forths.
“It was one of a kind, and I am very grateful he allowed us to sit down. He invited us, we ate, and we were treated so well. One thing that I discovered is that Pastor Dorcas is like a wife, wife. What I mean is, in public life, I know a lot of celebrities who are married, politicians, and church leaders. When the camera goes off, each of the couple minds their own business, and I have seen it everywhere. But for Riggy G’s wife, it’s the same on and off camera. She is concerned about, ‘Oh, have you eaten? ‘Are you okay?’ She would serve us, clear the dishes, and ask, ‘My children, are you okay?’ When we arrived, I said that we needed to address it like Riggy is chilled, and she said that she had that sorted out as well.” He said.
Obinna added that this aspect of Dorcas was very commendable, as he expected she would be like other wives he knows from many places.
“I know people who would have been at her level, and they would respond badly to their husbands. I have seen people do that, but for her, she is like a wife, wife. That was something different and commendable.”
At the end of it, Obinna also revealed that he had noticed that Gachagua was a very romantic man who does not waste any time when it comes to showering his wife with love.
He recalled how Gachagua had revealed that he intended to start writing love poems for Dorcas and said that their marriage seemed to be at its best.
“Then Riggy G is also a very romantic man. Did you not see his poems? Right now, I want to meet his wife and bring her some flowers,” he concluded.
