Machabe now managing Embarambamba after fallout with Stevo Simple Boy
Former manager of Stevo Simple Boy, Geoffrey Machabe, has taken over as the new manager of controversial gospel artist Christopher Mosioma, widely known as Embarambamba.
This comes shortly after a public fallout with Stevo, marking a new chapter in Machabe’s career within the Kenyan entertainment industry.
Speaking during a live show with Oga Obinna on Monday night, June 9, 2025, Embarambamba said that he first saw Machabe online while he was managing Stevo, and that is how he got to know him.
Embarambamba went on to say that they later met at a studio in Nairobi while he was recording a song, and that’s when they talked. Machabe asked him if he had a manager, and when he said he did not, Machabe told him he needed to find one.
He added that later, Machabe invited him to his place; they talked about his management, and Machabe told him that if he was okay with it, he could offer his professional services, and that is how he became his manager.
“Nilikua onaona machabe online wakati alikuwa anamanage stevo hapo, ndio nilimjua, na tulipatana siku ya kwa studio hapa Nairobi nikirecord wimbo. hapo ndio tuliongea na Machabe na akaniuliza kama niko na manager; nikamwambia sina, akaniambia nafaa kutafuta manager,” he disclosed.
“Badaye aliniita kwake tukaongea alafu akaniambia kama naona ni vizuri nipate manager anaweza work na mimi.”
On May 24, 2025, Embarambamba took to his official Instagram account and shared his photo with Machabe and disclosed that it is a new beginning and things are new.
“Ni mwanzo mpya, Mambo ni mapya, toa maoni,” he wrote.
Fallout
Machabe, on Thursday, May 15, 2025, announced his exit as Stevo’s manager, ending a one-year partnership that was marked by both revival and turbulence.
In a video shared on social media, Machabe said he could no longer continue managing Stevo’s career due to persistent interference from the singer’s wife, who he claims had taken over key decision-making roles within the artist’s brand.
“I have written songs for Stevo, looked for endorsements, and helped him grow, but now, even adverts are being decided by his wife. She manages everything. That’s not sustainable,” Machabe said.
“Nimeona siwezi endelea hivyo, hiyo itachoma brand ya Stivo, na Wakenya watanilaumu mimi.”
Stevo and Machabe’s brotherhood
In July 2024, Stevo introduced Machabe as a signee under his label, Stevo Simple Boy Empire, at a time when the singer was going through a rough patch following his public fallout with long-time manager Chingi Boy Mstadi.
Previously an aspiring gospel artiste, Machabe was signed by Stevo just days after he hosted him at his house in Kasarani, following his financial struggles, which had been exacerbated by his fallout with his manager.
During an interview a week after the signing, Stevo explained that he had chosen to work with him as a way of reciprocating the kindness he had once been shown, while also aiming to give his career a fresh start.
“I have signed a gospel artiste. His name is Machabe. He is a talented musician. I am so grateful to Stevo. He has been helping wholeheartedly. I believe this is the best move for my music career. We have even done a collaboration, and Stevo is so supportive of promoting the song,” he said.
