Director Trevor has expressed deep sorrow over the death of celebrated gospel singer Betty Bayo.
In an Instagram post on Monday, November 10, 2025, he revealed that on Sunday, November 9, 2025, his wife had asked him to invite Betty to perform at their upcoming December event.
“It was just yesterday that my wife was asking me to invite Betty to perform at our upcoming December event. I’m deeply saddened by the news of her passing. My heartfelt condolences to her family, friends, and everyone whose lives she touched. May her soul rest in eternal peace,” Trevor said.

Hours later, the gospel music industry was plunged into mourning following the death of Beatrice Wairimu Mbugua, famously known as Betty Bayo. Her passing on Monday, November 10, 2025, at Kenyatta National Hospital’s private wing has left fans, colleagues, and loved ones in shock.
A family representative, speaking on behalf of Betty’s husband, Hiram Gitau, confirmed that she passed away at 1:03 pm, ending days of speculation about her health. The representative said Betty had been unwell since last week, suffering from acute leukaemia and excessive bleeding.
“She was initially admitted to AAR Hospital on Kiambu Road before being transferred to Kenyatta National Hospital on Friday, November 7, 2025,” the spokesperson added.

Kenyan celebrities and media personalities have shared heartfelt tributes following the loss of Betty Bayo. Kameme FM presenter Muthoni Wakirumba, also known as Baby Top, and Shiru Wa GP were among the first to publicly mourn her passing. Muthoni, in a Facebook post on Monday, November 10, 2025, expressed her grief and shock at losing a cherished friend and colleague.
