Diamond admits downplaying his relationship with Zuchu to woo Fantana
Tanzanian musician Diamond Platnumz has openly admitted to cheating on fellow singer Zuchu with Ghanaian artiste and reality TV personality Francine Nyanko Koffi, popularly known as Fantana.
Speaking on a podcast on Tuesday, August 6, 2025, the singer opened up about his controversial relationship dynamics, especially during the filming of the Netflix reality show Young, Famous & African.
Diamond explained that while filming the show, he had to pretend he was not in a relationship so he could get close to Fantana, who was also part of the cast. He said he deliberately lied about his relationship with Zuchu to pursue Fantana freely and without judgment.
“During the show, I was after someone, how could I say I have a girlfriend back home? On that show, I am trying to show people how human beings are,” Diamond said.
“I was cheating, I had to lie that Zuchu was just my artiste. Zuchu and I are together, but I had to lie at that time. That is how life is,” he confessed.
Diamond went further to describe how his relationship with Zuchu began, saying their feelings for each other gradually grew while working together under his label.
“Zuchu started as my artiste. Feelings just grew gradually. I love her, and it is something amazing and beautiful,” he said.

On the show, Diamond and Fantana’s chemistry was undeniable. The two were seen getting close, sharing intimate moments, including kisses, and spending a lot of time together. Their closeness fueled dating rumours, especially after a pregnancy scare that Diamond seemed excited about. According to him, he would have welcomed the idea of having a child with Fantana.
However, the truth came out after the show ended. Fantana revealed that she was unaware that Diamond had another relationship going on. She said he had told her he was single and insisted that Zuchu was just an artiste under his label.

Diamond also addressed the drama, saying moments he shared with Fantana were fun but not serious, and some of his actions in the show were scripted for him to give a playboy persona.
“It wasn’t something deep. It was just something for the moment,” he explained.
Adding;
“That playboy character was for the show. It was not meant to hurt Zuchu. None of it is true in real life.”
Throughout the show, Fantana faced backlash and emotional moments as she tried to understand Diamond’s intentions. Several cast members warned her about his behaviour, reminding her that Diamond had a woman back home. They cautioned her about getting emotionally attached to someone known for his Playboy ways.
Even with everyone around knowing the truth, Diamond kept denying his relationship with Zuchu on screen.
“So you don’t have a girlfriend?” Diamond replied, “No, I don’t. She is my artiste.”
