CupidSZN reveals how a friend’s secret share of his unreleased music led to his breakthrough
Nigerian singer CupidSZN has revealed how a friend secretly shared his unreleased music with industry contacts, ultimately leading to his breakthrough.
In an interview during his visit to Kenya on Saturday, November 29, 2025, CupidSZN explained that before joining Mavin Records, he had been creating music independently, posting freestyles and covers on platforms like SoundCloud.
He reflected that his close friend, Edima, believed in his talent and began sharing his tracks with people in the music industry without informing him. One of these shares eventually reached key figures at Mavin Records, catching their attention with his unique sound, vocal range, and consistency.
“Before joining Mavin, I was just making music independently, posting freestyles and covers on SoundCloud. My friend Edima believed in me and started sending my tracks to people in the industry without telling me,” he said.

Palava hitmaker says he was unaware of his friend’s efforts at the time. By the time huge great labels like Mavin’s A&R team reached out, he had no idea that a friend’s initiative had set the wheels in motion for his professional signing.
He describes the discovery as a “life-changing moment” and a key turning point in his career.
After connecting with Mavin, CupidSZN noted that he spent over a year in the label’s academy, refining his craft while continuing to release music independently.
He highlighted that this period allowed him to develop his style and gain experience in a professional environment before his official debut with the label.
“Edima really changed my life. Her decision to share my music was unexpected, but it opened doors I never imagined. I’m grateful for that,” he said.

His first project under Mavin, the EP “Myth Era”, has been met with positive reception, with tracks like “Zesty Money” highlighted as standouts. CupidSZN encourages fans, especially in Kenya, to check out his music and support his journey.
He also expressed excitement about performing live, particularly in clubs where his energetic sound connects directly with audiences.
The first rising singer has credited his early success not only to his talent but also to the support system around him, particularly Edima, whose decision to share his music set the stage for his rise.
