Mannerson Oduor Ochieng, popularly known as Akuku Danger, is not able to go home after being discharged from Nairobi West hospital because of the huge medical bill.
The former Churchill Show comedian was readmitted to Nairobi West hospital on June 8, 2022, after falling sick again.
Akuku Danger has been battling Sickle Cell Anemia, a chronic blood condition that has kept him in and out of the hospital for years.
The sickly comedian was discharged from Nairobi West hospital on Monday, June 20 but could not be released to go home because of the huge bill.
His girlfriend Sandra Dacha revealed that the Akuku’s bill has accrued to a whopping Ksh823,000 after deductions from his insurance.
“@itsakukudanger the Comedian has been admitted at Nairobi west Hospital for the past two weeks and has since accrued a bill of Kshs 823,000/= after deductions from his Insurance and cash deposits too.
“He got discharged Yesterday but the hospital is Detaining him until he pays the remaining balance. The hospital has refused to accept a collateral so that he can organize his finances from outside despite having their collateral from the January bill which has a higher value than the total bill,” she wrote.
Dacha further pleaded for well-wishers to help them in any way.
“Anyone willing to help in anyway please reach us,” she added.
Akuku Danger had huge bill before
The former Churchill show comedian was admitted to Nairobi West Hospital in late December 2021 after he got seriously sick.
He was ultimately discharged from Hospital on January 27 2022 and allowed to go home even though he owed the facility a lot of money.
Akuku’s bill had accrued to Ksh2 million by the time he was being discharged. A fundraiser was held but didn’t raise the full amount needed to settle his bill.
Sandra Dacha announced on January 28 that the comedian entered into a legal agreement with Nairobi West Hospital to clear his bill in instalments.
On March 26, Akuku held an event at Nairobi Cinema to raise money for his pending hospital bill which stood at Ksh1.5 million at the time.
The event which acted as a fundraiser saw several big names in Kenyan comedians perform in support of Akuku Danger.
