Wednesday blackout to hit parts of 3 counties

Kenya Power has announced a temporary power outage that will affect parts of Machakos, Nyamira and Kiambu counties on Wednesday, October 29, 2025.

In an advisory issued on Tuesday, the utility company said the planned interruption is part of routine network maintenance aimed at improving service reliability in the affected areas.

In Machakos County, the outage will affect parts of Mlolongo from 9.00 am to 5.00 pm. Areas to be impacted include Ngwata Phase 3, Mlolongo Weigh Bridge, Kenya Power offices, Sapphire Business Park, Weighbridge Gardens, Kathangaita and surrounding customers.

In Nyamira County, the blackout will also run from 9.00 am to 5.00 pm and will affect the Ekerenyo and Obwari areas. Among those to experience the interruption are Mogeni Tea Factory, Ikonge Market, Ekerenyo, Obwari, Kebabe Girls, Korota Market, Nyamusi Market, Nyamusi Hospital, Ekonge and nearby customers.

In Kiambu County, residents of Kihingo will also be affected during the same period. The maintenance will impact Kihingo Anglican Church of Kenya, Kihingo First, Second and Third Avenues and surrounding customers.

Kenya Power advised customers in the affected regions to make necessary arrangements and apologised for any inconvenience caused by the planned maintenance exercise.
