The United Democratic Alliance party has issued a disciplinary notice to the party members, warning against any violence and destruction of election materials ahead of the party nominations for by-elections.

In a letter to the public by the UDA disciplinary chairperson committee, Charles Like, on Tuesday, August 26, 2025, announced that the ruling party prohibits any misconduct and incidents of indiscipline during the party nominations.

Notably, this comes as the party prepares for the upcoming by-elections scheduled to be conducted by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC). The party is expected to conduct nominations to get flagbearers for the upcoming by-elections.

“The UDA Party Disciplinary Committee wishes to draw the attention of members of the UDA Party, specifically members in the various constituencies and wards where the By- Elections are scheduled to be conducted by the I.E.B.C and party nominations to determine our candidates are in process as announced by our National Elections Board, to the provisions of the UDA Party Constitution and Code of Conduct, that prohibit against any misconduct and incidences of indiscipline during the Party Nominations,” Charles wrote.

UDA call to Members

On his part, the UDA Disciplinary Chairperson called on members to conduct themselves with decorum and avoid acts of violence during both stages of elections.

“We urge the members to conduct themselves with utmost decorum and avoid acts of violence, hooliganism and destruction of election materials or any property during the nominations and the subsequent elections,” he noted.

Complain complain”Should any member wish to lodge a complaint with the disciplinary committee, let the same be made in writing and dropped at the Party Headquarters at Hustler Plaza, along Ngong Road or sent on e-mail to [email protected],” he noted.

By-elections across the country

Worth noting, across the nation, there are 23 pending by-elections, encompassing six National Assembly seats, one Senate seat, and sixteen Member of County Assembly (MCA) positions.

These vacancies have arisen due to a number of reasons, including deaths and appointments to other roles.

Among the notable former Members of Parliament whose seats are now vacant are the former Baringo Senator William Cheptumo, the former Ugunja MP Opiyo Wandayi, who was appointed to the Cabinet, and the former Mbere North MP Geoffrey Ruku, also appointed to the Cabinet.

Sadly, the former Kasipul MP Ong’ondo Were, the former Banisa MP Hassan Maalim, and the former Malava MP Malulu Injendi have all passed away.
