Hassan Omar expresses confidence UDA will win Magarini seat in by-election
United Democratic Alliance (UDA) Secretary General, Hassan Omar, has expressed confidence that the party will emerge victorious in the forthcoming Magarini Constituency by-election.
In a statement on Thursday, August 21, 2025, the ruling party revealed that Omar has received a brief from the party’s candidate, Hon. Stanley Karisa Kenga, at Hustler Plaza.
The two leaders held a consultative meeting to deliberate on strategies aimed at strengthening grassroots mobilisation and consolidating support for the UDA candidate.
“The Secretary General expressed satisfaction in the ongoing preparations, expressing optimism that the party will clinch the seat, among others, that it will contest in the November by-elections,” read the statement.
“Sen. Omar said UDA will support all those seeking respective seats under the party,” the statement added.

UDA party nominations
This comes a few days after the party formally announced the schedule for party nominations ahead of the upcoming by-elections in several parts of the country.
In a notice issued by the ruling party on Tuesday, August 19, 2025, the party stated that the nominations will be held on September 20, 2025.
“NOTICE is hereby given that the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party nominations shall be held on 20 September 2025. Interested candidates are encouraged to apply for nomination by registering through the UDA party portal,” read the notice in part.
The by-elections will cover six constituencies, including Banissa, Kasipul, Magarini, Malava, Mbeere North, and Ugunja; the Senate seat for Baringo County; and 18 wards across counties such as Samburu, Nandi, Tana River, Garissa, Nairobi, Kakamega, Bungoma, Elgeyo Marakwet, Machakos, Narok, Kajiado, Uasin Gishu, Nyamira, and Turkana.
According to the nomination fee schedule, aspirants will be required to pay Ksh250,000 for parliamentary and Senate seats. In contrast, female candidates, youth, and persons with disabilities (PWDs) will pay a discounted fee of Ksh125,000. Those seeking Member of County Assembly (MCA) tickets will pay Ksh50,000, with women, youth, and PWDs required to pay Ksh25,000.
