Young girl living with rare condition steals show with moving poem at Linda Mwananchi’s Jacaranda rally

A six-year-old girl named Sky stole the spotlight at the Linda Mwananchi mega rally held at Jacaranda Grounds in Nairobi on Sunday, September 13, 2026.
Raised onto the stage by Embakasi East Member of Parliament Babu Owino, Sky delivered a heartfelt poem that left thousands of attendees cheering and moved to applause.
Sky, who lives with hydrocephalus, used her platform to speak candidly about her health journey and personal resilience. Introducing herself to the crowd, she shared her story with courage and confidence.
“My name is Sky. I am 6 years old and I have hydrocephalus. That makes me strong. I’m not broken, I’m a superhero kid,” she declared.
A powerful message on inclusion
Her recital focused on changing public perceptions surrounding living with disability.
She reminded the audience that living with a medical condition does not diminish a person’s worth or talent. “Disability is not inability, it is a different kind of ability. Give me a chance and I will show you me. I’m not a sympathy, I’m a possibility,” Sky recited.
Sky praised the organisers for offering a platform to individuals living with disabilities, noting that genuine inclusion requires practical actions rather than mere words. “Sometimes people talk of inclusion, inclusion, inclusion, but Linda Mwananchi said enough talking, let’s bring them to the table,” she said.
She also gave a warm shout-out to Nominated Senator Crystal Asige, calling her a mentor who proves that leadership has no limits.
Big dreams and stage rewards
Beyond her message on inclusion, Sky shared her ambitious career goals for the future. Expressing her love for performance and learning, she stated her desire to enter the legal profession.
“One day I want to become a lawyer just like my learned friends, Honourable James Orengo, Babu Owino and Sifuna. And please, don’t argue with me, I will always win,” she quipped, drawing laughter from the crowd.
Her performance impressed the political leaders present at the rally. Babu Owino praised her sharp mind, calling her very intelligent before joining Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna to hand her cash gifts on stage as a token of appreciation.
