Young poet wows crowd with poem for Sifuna in Bungoma

A young boy took centre stage at Posta Grounds in Bungoma County on Sunday, July 26, 2026, leaving a crowd of supporters cheering after delivering a poem praising Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna.
The political rally was part of Sifuna’s homecoming tour in Western Kenya. The event briefly paused when the young poet stepped up to the microphone, standing beside the lawmaker.
With Sifuna holding the microphone for him, the young boy recited his poem without hesitation, pulling loud applause from the crowd gathered at the grounds.

In his poem, the boy portrayed the Nairobi senator as a key political figure whose name is currently making rounds across the country.
He proclaimed that “mbinguni na duniani, tingatinga Edwin Watenya Sifuna ndiye mwenye haya sasa,” to express how Sifuna’s political presence has grown.
Throughout his performance, the boy kept returning to a simple chorus, singing “wanahengaika wakisikia, sisi ndio Sifuna”. The line got supporters chanting along, waving flags, and raising their hands.
He then addressed the crowd directly, asking them to stand behind Sifuna’s political moves.
He told the gathering, “Nataka muambie hivi: It is high time, Edwin Watenya Sifuna, hii ni chama na kazi.”
Political names mentioned in verse
The young poet did not limit his lines to Sifuna alone. He also brought up several top politicians from across the opposition coalition during his presentation.
In one part of the poem, he said “George Natembeya anatembea pamoja na Edwin Sifuna,” linking the Trans Nzoia Governor with Sifuna, while also making mention of Kalonzo Musyoka, Martha Karua, James Orengo, and Babu Owino.
The boy asked the crowd what people from regions like the Coast and Mount Kenya were saying, prompting a loud response from the gathering. Many people in the audience were seen recording the moment on their mobile phones as he continued.
The rally brought together local leaders, residents, and supporters from different parts of Bungoma County as Sifuna’s Western Kenya tour came to a close.
