Six herders on Saturday evening lost their lives following a deadly shoot-out between Turkana and Samburu morans.

K24 Digital has established that the Turkana herders had taken the cattle to quench their thirst at Isiolo river when over 100 Samburu morans came pretending that they were grazing their cattle.

The Samburu morans are then accused of trying to make away with the cattle which led to a fierce gun battle.

“As a result, one Turkana herder identified as Elale Katukok Bishirai aged 17 years and five un identified Samburu Moran were killed. The Moran are aged approximately between 17 and 23 years,” a report seen by this reporter reads in part.

The scene was visited by officers drawn from the General Service Unit (GSU), Kenya Police Service and those from the Anti-Stock Theft Unit.

Police further said the Samburu team retreated towards Loluku area and they are yet to recover any firearm.

No cattle was stolen following the attack.

The six bodies were taken to Isiolo County Referral Hospital awaiting for postmortem.
