Police nab one, recover 10 stolen camels in Turkana

Police officers in Turkana have nabbed one man linked to ten stolen camels in the Kataruk area of Loima Sub-County in Turkana County.

In a statement by the National Police Service official X account on Saturday, November 8, 2025, the police confirmed that the animals were stolen by armed bandits while they were grazing in the fields.

“Police in Turkana County have recovered ten camels that were stolen by armed bandits while the animals were grazing in the Kataruk area of Loima Sub-County,” NPS said.

Police have revealed that following the report by the residents, a joint security team comprising officers from Lokichar and Lorugum Police Stations hit the ground in search of the persons of interest.

On the other hand, the police revealed their efforts bore fruit after working closely with local community members, hence pursuing the suspects towards the Kalodicha and Kangisaja areas.

Recovery

Likewise, the officers noted that the coordinated response led to the recovery of all the stolen camels and the arrest of one suspect, while two others escaped.

In the meantime, according to the National Police Service, efforts to trace and arrest the remaining suspects are ongoing.

Police have revealed that the recovered animals have been positively identified and returned to their rightful owner, while the arrested suspect remains in police custody, pending processing and court arraignment.
