Simon Muteti released after being held incommunicado for more than 3 months – LSK’s Faith Odhiambo
The Law Society of Kenya (LSK) President Faith Odhiambo has announced the release of Simon Muteti, who was reportedly abducted in Timau, Laikipia County, on October 22, 2024.
Taking to her official X account on Tuesday, February 11, 2025, Odhiambo stated that Muteti had been set free by his abductors after being held incommunicado for more than three months.

Odhiambo, who has been leading LSK in defending the victims of the recent wave of abductions and police brutality, further stated that Muteti was safely with his family but remained petrified by his ordeal.
Support for Muteti
She went ahead to give a promise that LSK would extend necessary legal and psychological support to the victim and his family.
“Mr. Simon Muteti has been released after being held incommunicado for more than 3 months. He is safely with his family but remains petrified by his ordeal. We will extend the necessary legal and psychosocial support to him and the family,” Odhiambo stated.

On January 30, 2025, Odhiambo received and provided legal aid to Muteti’s distressed family.
Simon Muteti’s release comes just a day after Kenya’s African Union Commission (AUC) Chairmanship candidate Raila Odinga called for an end to abductions.
Speaking at the Bomas of Kenya on Monday, February 10, 2025, during the interdenominational prayer service that was organized for him by the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Women’s Chapter ahead of the AUC polls scheduled for Saturday, February 15, Raila called for relevant security agencies to act immediately.
Raila went ahead to question about the people behind the abductions whom the police have denied knowing them.
Raila calls out police
The former Prime Minister further hit out at the police for failing to investigate and bring the abductors to book.
“Mambo maovu ambayo inafanyika hapa tumepinga. Mimi mnajua siezi kuona maovu na nikae kimya. Mambo ya kushika vijana na kwenda na kuwazuia na kuwaua mpaka ikwishe katika taifa letu. Hatuezi kuvumilia kamwe watu wanatekwa nyara ovyo ovyo. Hawa watu ambao wanateka watu nyara ni watu gani ambao askari wanasema hawajui. Kama serikali haijui, ni haja gani kuwa na polisi. Tumesema mambo ya abductions ikwishe katika taifa letu. Shetani ashindwe,” Raila said.
