Several regions to experience heavy downpour during weekend – Kenya Met

Several regions in the country are set to experience heavy rainfalls during the weekend, according to a prediction by the Kenya Meteorological Department.
In the forecast, the weather department indicates that the highland areas west of the Rift Valley, which include Siaya, Kisumu, Homabay, Migori, Kisii, Nyamira, Trans Nzoia, Baringo, Uasin Gishu, Elgeyo-Marakwet, Nandi, Nakuru, Narok, Kericho, Bomet, Kakamega, Vihiga, Bungoma, Busia, and West Pokot counties, will experience morning showers on Saturday, May 10, 2025.
The rains are expected to continue into the afternoons, with a few chances of sunny intervals, while the temperatures in these regions are predicted to fall to lows of 11 degrees Celsius during the night.
Nairobi weather
The met department equally notes that the highland areas east of the Rift Valley, which include Nyandarua, Laikipia, Nyeri, Kirinyaga, Murang’a, Kiambu, Meru, Embu, Tharaka, and Nairobi counties, will experience mostly cloudy mornings on Saturday, May 10, 2025, and Sunday.
However, the afternoons are expected to be marked by heavy downpour across several of the aforementioned counties in the region, with temperatures staying at 27 degrees Celsius during the day and dropping to 9 degrees Celsius in the coldest areas.

In the South-Eastern lowlands, which include Kitui, Makueni, Machakos, Kajiado, and Taita Taveta Counties, as well as inland parts of Tana River County, there will be isolated cases of rainfall, while the temperatures are predicted to range from lows of 13 degrees Celsius at night to highs of 30 degrees on sunny days.
Coast rains
In the coastal region, which includes Mombasa, Kilifi, Lamu, and Kwale Counties, as well as coastal parts of Tana River County, the rains are expected to continue.
On Saturday, May 10, 2025, the region will experience heavy downpours in most of the counties in the morning. However, the rains are forecast to subside as the weekend wears on.
Temperatures are expected to range between lows of 23 degrees Celsius during the nights and highs of 32 degrees Celsius on sunny days.
The North-Eastern region areas of Marsabit, Mandera, Wajir, Garissa, and Isiolo counties are also expected to receive reduced cases of rainfall after weeks of flooding in the region, which displaced scores of residents and destroyed businesses.
The temperatures in the region will, however, remain high, with the hottest days hitting 37 degrees Celsius while the coldest nights dropping to 17 degrees.
Turkana and Samburu counties will equally experience isolated instances of rainfall during the weekend, with the temperatures hitting highs of 36 degrees Celsius and dropping down to 9 degrees.
