Salasya projects himself as fun but visionary leader ahead of 2027 polls

Mumias East MP Peter Salasya has once again captured public attention, branding himself as a fun but focused leader ahead of the 2027 general elections.
In a post shared on his Instagram account on Wednesday, July 16, 2025, Salasya said he is the kind of leader who understands how to balance different aspects of life.
“I just like comedy times, but a very focused leader. I am a leader who understands how to balance life–time ya job, time ya God, time ya kazi, time ya sherehe – time for everything. Vote Salasya 2027,” he wrote.
Author and presidential candidate
Peter Salasya rose to national attention when he won the Mumias East parliamentary seat under the DAP-K ticket.
Salasya has since been active on social media, often posting controversial content to his social media platforms, where he has gained a massive following.
The youthful MP recently added author to his growing list of titles after announcing the upcoming launch of his first book, titled From the Ashes I Soar.
The book launch is scheduled for August 2, 2025, at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC) in Nairobi. In an announcement shared via his X account on Tuesday, July 15, 2025, Salasya invited Kenyans to register and attend the launch.
“The above is a registration link for those joining me on 2nd August for my book launch at KICC. It’s an inspirational book. Register so that I may get to know how many guests will be attending,” he wrote.
In a past post, the outspoken legislator made it clear that he has serious political ambitions. He declared that he will run for president in the upcoming 2027 general election, saying that Kenya needed bold and transformative leadership.
According to him, the current political landscape and the country’s economic struggles pushed him to consider the top seat.
“I decided to run for the presidency after a lot of reflection on the state of our nation,” Salasya said in an earlier address.
Adding;
“Kenya is at a turning point. We need leaders who will focus on industrial development, create sustainable jobs, and ensure social justice for all.”
He noted that Kenya can no longer afford to export its talent and labour while local industries remain underdeveloped and millions of young people remain jobless.
“We must rise to the challenge and unlock the potential of our people through innovation and strong leadership,” he added.
