Mumias East Member of Parliament (MP) Peter Salasya has demanded the arrest of Central Police Deputy Officer Commanding Station Police (OCS) Samuel Nga’anga in the murder of Albert Ojwang.

Ojwang was arrested in his Homa Bay home over claims of false publication and brought to Nairobi, where he was booked and later clobbered to death on June 8, 2025.

In a statement on Monday, June 16, 2025, Salasya has also demanded the arrest of the two police officers captured on CCTV transporting Ojwang’s body to Mbagathi Hospital.

“I am asking, on behalf of the people I represent: Why is it that the Deputy OCS and the two officers who took the body of the late Albert to Mbagathi Hospital are not in court alongside the OCS today?” he posed.

“This omission is not just suspicious; it is unacceptable. I am calling upon the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) and the Independent Policing Oversight Authority (IPOA) to immediately produce the three officers in court and have them explain their role in this tragic matter,” he added.

Samson Talam

His remarks come as the Independent Policing Oversight Authority (IPOA) is in court, seeking orders to detain Central Police Station OCS Samson Talam for 21 days.

In a miscellaneous application filed at Milimani Law Courts, IPOA says this will allow completion of investigations into the gruesome murder of blogger Albert Ojwang.

The application is supported by an affidavit sworn by Senior Assistant Director of Investigations Abdirahman Jibril, who is attached to IPOA headquarters.

The authority is requesting that Taalam be held at Lang’ata Police Station or any other station within the country, as investigations may dictate.

Talam was trailed and arrested on Friday, June 13, 2025, following a dramatic pursuit.

Salasya has stated that everyone involved in the case should be presented in court and face the law.

“No one should carry the cross for another. If these officers were involved, they must face the law like everyone else. Every Kenyan life matters. Every parent deserves to know the truth about what happened to their child,” he stated.

“We must get to the root cause of this case. Could it be that these officers are being shielded because they know something deeper, something some would rather hide? If so, then this is not just a case, it is a cover-up,” he added.
