Barely a week after criticising the advisers to President William Ruto and asking to be considered for the role, Mumias East MP Peter Salasya has doubled up on his verbal attacks.
The DAP-K lawmaker, while appearing on K24 TV‘s Mchipuko show on Monday, January 27, 2025, maintained his affront on the team counselling the president, calling them out for misadvising the president on several policy matters.
According to Salasya, the advisers are more concerned with their selfish agendas and have not to being candid with the president.
Man of the moment
Salasya observes that this has made the president unable to make sound decisions on matters affecting Kenyans.
“In my opinion, I feel the president is surrounded by people vested with self-interest. They tell him that each and every one of the decisions he makes or proposes is right. He has no one to contradict him. It has now reached a point where the president has got the perception that he is the man of the moment and everything is right,” Salasya said.

The lawmaker has additionally signaled on taking a more vocal stance in opposing unpopular bills in parliament.
Previously, Salasya has been called out among the silent MPs on the floor of the house. He has however promised a change while eyeing a starring role in clamouring for youth rights in parliament.
“I’m ready to start challenging every controversial bill and policies. I am going to be the one standing up and demanding that the voice of the youth gets a listening ear in the parliament. For a long time, we have accorded too much respect to the MPs of old but they have failed in their roles. They cannot be the one responsible of furthering the agenda of the youth,“ Salasya added.

During the event, Salasya called on the president to reevaluate many of the policies adopted by his regime that do not augur well with the ordinary citizens.
“I want you to be elected for another term but I want you to look at the pay slips of Kenyans,” Salasya said amid cheers from the crowd.
“They’re telling you SHA is working when it is not working. The new university funding model is not working. I know you have the heart to help the country but there are cartels and traitors within your government,” he added.
