President Uhuru arrives in Kisumu for Madaraka Day celebrations

President Uhuru Kenyatta has landed in Kisumu ahead of his three-day working tour of Nyanza region and the 58th Madaraka Day celebrations.

Uhuru was received by ODM leader Raila Odinga and Kisumu Governor Anyang Nyong’o amongst other leaders at Kisumu International Airport.

While in Kisumu, President Uhuru will also be joined by his Burundi counterpart Evariste Ndayishimiye as the country celebrates Madaraka Day.

Ndayishimiye will arrive in Kisumu City on Monday, May 31, and will join President Kenyatta during his tour of the various National Government Projects in the Nyanza Region.

This year’s celebrations will be held at the new Jomo Kenyatta International Stadium in Kisumu County.

In his visit, Uhuru will officially launch the Kisumu port and the Uhuru business market which was constructed to accommodate traders who were displaced from the Kibuye market to pave way for it to be built to an ultra-modern market.
