PHOTOS: Jubilee party leadership holds consultative meeting with online taxi drivers

The Jubilee Party leadership, led by Secretary-General Jeremiah Kioni and Vice Chair David Murathe, held a consultative meeting with various stakeholders, including online taxi drivers, at the party headquarters in Nairobi on Wednesday, May 7, 2025.

Speaking after the engagement, Kioni emphasised the party’s commitment to engaging directly with Kenyans facing everyday struggles, noting that the current regime has failed to address the mounting economic and social challenges in the country.
“Today, our team, led by myself and Hon. Murathe, held a consultative engagement with online taxi drivers from Nairobi and other interest groups.
We are living in difficult times, under a regime that continues to ignore the real problems affecting mwananchi. But let it be known: change is coming,” said Kioni.
Matiangi’s endorsement
The meeting comes at a time when the Jubilee Party has officially thrown its weight behind former Interior Cabinet Secretary Dr. Fred Matiang’i, endorsing him as its presidential candidate for the 2027 General Election.
Dr. Matiang’i, although not present during the presser, returned to the country earlier this month after resigning from a senior role at the World Bank in Latin America to focus on his political ambitions.
During his homecoming tour in Kisii and Nyamira counties on May 2, 2025, Matiang’i declared, “I am ready to be the President of Kenya.”
His statement was met with overwhelming support from local leaders and residents.
Since then, he has been actively engaging opposition heavyweights, including Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka, DAP-K’s Eugene Wamalwa, and even former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua as he seeks to build a formidable alliance.
This resurgence has sparked renewed momentum in the opposition, with political players regrouping and forming alliances in a bid to unseat President William Ruto in 2027.
Notably, Dr. Matiang’i made a bold public appearance over the weekend when he attended a church service at the home of Rigathi Gachagua in Wamunyoro, Nyeri County.
The unexpected appearance fueled speculation about the ongoing behind-the-scenes political negotiations and shifting allegiances.
With Jubilee’s renewed activism and Matiang’i’s return, the race to 2027 is shaping up to be a fierce political contest, with the opposition showing signs of unity and determination to reclaim leadership.
