These elections are part of ODM’s staggered internal polls that began last year at the grassroots. Earlier this year, the party held ward elections in April 2025, followed by constituency elections, in a process designed to strengthen ODM’s structures ahead of the 2027 General Election.

Party leader Raila Odinga has emphasised that the exercise is meant to entrench internal democracy and prepare the movement for the next political cycle.

The county delegate elections will play a key role in shaping ODM’s leadership at the grassroots, with winners expected to influence decision-making at higher party levels.
