Jaymo Ule Msee questions Sifuna’s track record a day after saying he is overhyped

Social media personality and aspiring politician Wilson Muirani Gathoni, widely known as Jaymo Ule Msee, has stood by his criticism of Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna after facing backlash over his earlier remarks.
The social media personality challenged those who disagreed with him, asking them to point out what their preferred presidential candidate has achieved.
His latest remarks came after he previously described Sifuna as “overhyped” while questioning his leadership record. Jaymo maintained that leadership should be measured by results rather than popularity.
“Mkimaliza feelings mnijibu tu what your presidential candidate has achieved with the much given?” Jaymo Ule Msee said on Tuesday, July 28, 2026.
The statement was his response after receiving criticism over his earlier comments about the Nairobi senator. Jaymo did not withdraw his remarks and instead repeated his call for people to focus on a leader’s achievements.
Standing by his remarks
Earlier, Jaymo criticised Sifuna while discussing leadership and public office. He argued that excitement around a political leader should not replace an assessment of their performance and record.
“Sifuna is not a leader – just overhyped. I know most of you are excited about Sifuna; it is good to be excited,” Jaymo Ule Msee said.
Jaymo explained that he believes leaders should be judged by what they have delivered while in office. According to him, a strong track record is more important than public praise or popularity.
“But allow me to tell you this: kiongozi huchaguliwa because of track record,” Jaymo Ule Msee said.
He also questioned Sifuna’s time as the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Secretary General. Jaymo said he had not heard party members speak about major changes that happened under Sifuna’s leadership.
“Sifuna has been secretary general of ODM. I have not heard any ODM member say, ‘When Sifuna was secretary general, ODM became…’ I have not heard that,” Jaymo Ule Msee said.
His latest response showed that he remains firm in his position despite the criticism that followed his initial remarks.
Sifuna remains one of the country’s best-known politicians and enjoys support from many Kenyans. Even so, Jaymo has maintained that public support alone should not determine leadership, insisting that voters should also examine a leader’s record before making their decision.
