Sifuna is just overhyped: Jaymo Ule Msee criticises Nairobi senator

Social media personality and aspiring politician Wilson Muirani Gathoni, widely known as Jaymo Ule Msee, has once again criticised Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna, describing him as ‘just overhyped’ while questioning his leadership record.
Jaymo, who recently announced that he will contest the Nairobi Senate seat in the 2027 General Election after making a U-turn on his decision to quit politics, argued that leadership should be judged by one’s track record rather than popularity.
In a video shared on his social media platforms on Monday, July 27, 2026, Jaymo said many Kenyans have become excited about Sifuna but urged them to evaluate his achievements before endorsing him for higher office.
“Sifuna is not a leader – just overhyped. I know most of you are excited about Sifuna; it is good to be excited,” Jaymo said.
According to Jaymo, a leader earns public trust through tangible results, not public perception.
“But allow me to tell you this: kiongozi huchaguliwa because of track record,” he added.
Jaymo went on to question Sifuna’s tenure as the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Secretary General, saying he had not heard party members credit him with transforming the party during his time in office.
“Sifuna has been secretary general of ODM. I have not heard any ODM member say, ‘When Sifuna was secretary general, ODM became…’ I have not heard that,” Jaymo stated.
Jaymo also challenged supporters backing Sifuna for higher leadership positions, questioning what the Nairobi senator has achieved during his current term.
“What has Sifuna done as Nairobi senator to make you say, ‘Wacha Sasa akuwe president?’ Before you get Sifunated, just check on his track record,” he added.
He further claimed that Sifuna’s rise in politics had largely been influenced by senior ODM leaders.
“Alafu Sifuna vitu zote ni wazee wamekuwa wakimupush; he became secretary general of ODM because of Raila, akakuwa senator kwa sababu Raila alimusukuma sasa sahi kuna wazee wanataka kumsukuma,” he claimed.
Jaymo’s latest remarks add to a series of criticisms he has directed at Sifuna in recent months as he positions himself ahead of the 2027 elections.
The entertainer recently declared that he will challenge Sifuna for the Nairobi Senate seat after reversing an earlier decision to step away from politics. Since announcing his comeback, he has frequently criticised the senator’s leadership and urged Nairobi residents to assess the performance of their elected leaders before the next general election.
