Chama Cha Kazi Party Leader Moses Kuria and a former immediate advisor to President William Ruto has come out guns blazing to stand in defence of the former President Uhuru Kenyatta.

Through his X handle on Sunday, September 28, 2025, Kuria, without calling anyone names, made it clear that Uhuru Kenyatta, just like any other Kenyan politician, is free to defend his political party.

Kuria also said that protecting Kenya’s multiparty democracy requires allowing leaders to speak their minds without intimidation.

“Uhuru Kenyatta has every right to express his views about everything and anything. Uhuru Kenyatta has every right to promote the Jubilee Party as the Party Leader. I stand with Uhuru Kenyatta,” Kuria wrote.

The outspoken politician further reminded Kenyans that the country’s multiparty system has grown gradually since 1992 and must not be weakened by political intolerance.

“Kenya’s fledgling multi-party democratic project has been growing gradually over the last 33 years. In 2027, a new chapter will be written in this book. For the first time, the winner of the Presidential Election will be decided in a run-off. There will be no outright winner in the first round,” he wrote on X.

Kuria’s statement came just two days after the Jubilee Party held its National Delegates Conference (NDC) on Friday, September 26, 2025.

Since the Jubilee NDC, former President Uhuru Kenyatta has been receiving what his allies term unnecessary and unfair criticism from the camp of his successor, William Ruto.

The former head of state appeared to openly slam the Kenya Kwanza administration over what he described as failed projects, pointing at the troubled Social Health Authority (SHA) and challenges in the education sector.

Kuria insisted that Uhuru’s views should not be silenced, noting that his role as a retired president and political leader still holds weight in shaping national debate.

His remarks have since triggered a heated exchange online, with Jubilee supporters praising him for standing with their party leader.

The statement by Kuria also reignited conversations around the 2027 elections, with growing speculation that the presidential contest could head to a run-off for the first time in Kenya’s history.
