Civic educator Morara Kebaso has issued a message to Kenyans as he continues the process of refunding money contributed to his cause.

Through a statement shared on his X account on Saturday, July 26, 2025, Morara called on anyone who had previously accused him of misusing public contributions to submit proof of their transactions. He asked those seeking refunds to share their M-Pesa messages or reference codes, stating that the exercise aims to bring closure to the matter.

Morara also confirmed that those who had already submitted their details were in the process of verification and would receive responses once the checks were completed.

The refunds are tied to contributions made toward his civic education initiatives, which have been the subject of public debate in recent months.

“If you have been calling Morara Kebaso a conman or a thief for receiving public contributions towards civic education efforts, this is your moment to receive a refund of your contribution. Comment with your M-Pesa message or M-Pesa ref code. We want to settle the matter once and for good. To those who have already done so, we are verifying the transactions; you will receive a response,” Morara stated.

Refund programme

This comes a day after commencing the refunding of money to everyone who contributed towards his course.

In a statement issued on Friday, July 25, 2025, Kebaso said he is ready to return funds to any contributor who may have interpreted his efforts as politically motivated.

“If you need a refund for any contribution you made to me when I was raising funds, kindly reply below with the Mpesa message or check your Mpesa statement and recover the Mpesa ref. code. I would like to refund any Kenyan who may have thought that the contributions were a motivation for me to seek leadership,” he posted on X.
