The Kenya School of Law (KSL) has announced that one of its students has gone missing amid ongoing anti-government protests in the country.

In a statement issued on Thursday, June 27, 2024, KSL Director Henry Mutai expressed concern over the disappearance of Joshua Okayo who is also the current President of the KSL Student Governing Council.

Mutai said that the student leader went missing on Wednesday, June 26, 2024, after sending a distress message to one of his classmates.

He said efforts to trace him have so far not been successful since his phone is switched off.

“It has been brought to the attention of the School that one of our students by the name Mr. Joshua Okayo, who is also the current President of the KSL Student Governing Council 2024, has been missing since yesterday, 26 June 2024. He went missing after sending a distress message to one of his classmates. Efforts to trace him have so far not been successful since his phone is switched off,” Mutai stated.

The disappearance of Okayo comes at a time of heightened tension in the country due to ongoing anti-government protests.

Mutai said they fear for his well-being and safety, given the prevailing situation.

“In view of the prevailing situation in the country, we are concerned for his well-being and safety. The School requests anyone who may have information regarding his whereabouts to share the same with the relevant authority or to report to the nearest police station, in order to secure his safe return,” Mutai added.

Mutai urged anyone with information to come forward noting his classmates, friends, and family are all anxiously awaiting any news that could lead to his safe return.

“The School requests anyone who may have information regarding his whereabouts to share the same with the relevant authority or to report to the nearest police station, in order to secure his safe return,” the KSL boss said.
