Kenya Power warns public against fraudsters impersonating CEO Joseph Siror

Kenya Power has issued a public warning over fraudsters impersonating its Managing Director and CEO Joseph Siror, in a scheme aimed at soliciting bribes and illegal favours.
The power company, while warning Kenyans to be aware of such individuals the company revealed that the fraudsters have been moving around claiming to be Siror, hence they can get favours through the CEO.
Kenya Power issued the public alert in a statement on Friday, 1 August 2025, through the company’s official X account.
“We wish to alert the public and our esteemed customers of fraudulent individuals impersonating our Managing Director & CEO, Dr. (Eng.) Joseph Siror, while soliciting for bribes and other illegal favours,” part of the statement read.
Likewise, the Utility company has acknowledged that it has zero tolerance for bribery, fraud, or any other unethical conduct, further asking Kenyans to make their electricity bill payments through authorised channels.
Kenya Power has zero tolerance for bribery, fraud and any other unethical conduct. All payments for electricity services should be made through authorised channels (mobile money, banks and Kenya Power banking halls) and receipts obtained for the same,” read the statement.

How to report fraud
In addition, Kenya Power has advised the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities, further noting that in the case of impersonation activities, Kenyans should report to the nearest police station or any Kenya Power office.
“Members of the public are advised to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity or impersonation attempts immediately to the police or any nearest Kenya Power office,” Kenya Power said.
Similarly, the utility company has directed members of the public to personally authenticate persons presenting themselves to be Kenya Power staff, also directing ways of getting to identifying an authorised Kenya Power personality.
“Additionally, they should authenticate persons presenting themselves as Kenya Power staff by dialling *977#,” noted Kenya Power
The company is also calling on its esteemed customers to join hands in protecting the community from fraudsters
“Let us work together to safeguard our community from fraudsters. You have been warned. Beware of Conmen!” Kenya Power stated.
