Kenya Power has announced a scheduled power interruption affecting parts of Nairobi on Tuesday, November 4, 2025.

The company has always said the outage is part of its regular maintenance programme aimed at improving service reliability and network stability.

In a public notice on X, the utility firm stated that specific sections of South B, including Part of Riverbank, Total Petrol Station, part of Golden Gate, and adjacent customers, will experience the outage. The power interruption will run from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

“Good evening. Please note that the following areas are scheduled for planned power maintenance tomorrow, 4th November 2025,” Kenya Power said in a statement.

Outage part of ongoing network maintenance

The planned works are part of a larger effort by Kenya Power to strengthen its distribution systems and meet the growing electricity demand across the country. The company has been carrying out routine maintenance in different regions to prevent unplanned outages and improve power quality.

In July 2025, Kenya Power reported a record peak load of 2,362.28 megawatts, a figure attributed to increased electricity use during the cold season. The utility company noted that many Kenyans relied heavily on electric heaters and other appliances to keep warm, contributing to the higher demand.

The company also cited growth in customer connections and electrification projects as key drivers of the surge in power consumption. During the financial year ending June 2025, Kenya Power connected more than 400,000 new customers to the national grid. The company expects demand to continue rising as it expands access to electricity for both households and businesses.

Kenya Power has been working to upgrade and maintain its infrastructure, saying the planned outages are necessary to ensure a reliable and stable electricity supply. The utility firm continues to advise customers to prepare in advance for such interruptions and switch off sensitive electrical appliances to avoid damage when power is restored.

The company added that it remains committed to improving service delivery as it balances maintenance operations with efforts to meet the country’s growing energy needs.
