Former Public Service CS Justin Muturi, on Monday, September 15, 2025, castigated President William Ruto over the war on graft, saying that it won’t be achieved as long as he is the leader.

Muturi, who spoke to Kameme TV’s Gatonye Wa Mbugua in Kilimani, Nairobi, gave his reason as to why President William Ruto should be the last person to lecture anyone on corruption.

“This war on corruption in Kenya, if the person leading it is Ruto, then we are going nowhere.

“Ruto, immediately after winning in 2022, went and compromised the United Democratic Movement (UDM) party of Ali Roba. So that is the person who is waging war on corruption? Even though there is an independent MP, we met with him coming out to see Ruto together with his wife and his son.”

It is worth noting that Muturi had earlier called out Ruto over his remarks on corruption in parliament during the joint UDA-ODM Parliamentary Group meeting.

” When he was coming out because it is a person I know, a former classmate from form one, I saw an envelope, and from the look of things, that envelope had at least Ksh500,000.

“If Ruto is the one fighting the problem, then we are in deep trouble,” Muturi said.

In addition, the former Attorney General added that Ruto is a pathological liar who lies with blinking.

EACC and DCI under scrutiny

Muturi also claimed that Kenya’s key anti-corruption institutions have been weakened under Ruto’s leadership.

“EACC has been captured such that it is very weak. DCI is in the middle of it.

“Gatonye, tell me, for instance, this church that is being constructed in State House is being done by China Road and Bridge Corporation (CRBC), the same CRBC is the one doing State House renovation, the same CRBC is doing Talanta Hela stadium, the same CRBC is in Bomas Renovation through direct procurement against my advice as Attorney General,” Muturi revealed.

The former AG further highlighted financial losses under the current government, stating, “Kenya also lost Ksh6.2B because of cancelling the Lironi-Mau Summit.

” Muturi’s comments underscore a growing concern among political observers that corruption may continue unchecked if the institutions meant to fight graft remain compromised.

Muturi’s fiery remarks have set the stage for intense debate over accountability and governance in Kenya.

Political analysts predict that these statements could influence the ongoing discourse around anti-corruption measures, particularly as the country prepares for key political contests.
