Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni’s daughter, Patience Rwabwogo, has been consecrated as a Bishop of Covenant Nations Churches in Uganda after 20 years in ministry.

In a post on Sunday, August 23, 2026, Museveni celebrated the milestone, saying he and his wife, First Lady Janet Museveni, were happy to witness their daughter’s consecration.

“Today, Maama and I were very happy to witness the consecration of our daughter, Patience, as a Bishop of Covenant Nations Churches in Uganda after 20 years of ministry,” Museveni said.

The president thanked God for the occasion and praised Patience for dedicating two decades to ministry.

Family celebrates milestone

Museveni and the First Lady were present for the ceremony, alongside other members of the family.

The President also thanked the medical staff who supported his wife during her recovery and acknowledged their children Muhoozi, Natasha, Patience and Diana for standing by her.

“I thank God for Maama’s recovery and salute the medical staff, as well as our children, Muhoozi, Natasha, Patience and Diana, who stood with her throughout,” he said.

Museveni described his daughter’s elevation as a significant moment for the family.

“I also thank God for making Patience a Bishop,” he said.

The President expressed pride in seeing his daughter take on the new responsibility after years of service in the church.

Family church history

Museveni also reflected on his family’s history and its connection to Christianity.

He said his family had lived in the area for generations and noted that different religions had arrived there many years ago.

According to Museveni, his father, Mzee Kaguta, joined the Church in 1947.

“As I said, our family has been here for generations, and although the different religions came to our area many years ago, it was only in 1947 that Mzee Kaguta joined the Church,” he said.

Museveni said Patience’s consecration represented another chapter in the family’s religious journey.

He concluded his message by celebrating the new position his daughter had taken up.

“Today, I have a whole Bishop in the family,” Museveni said.
