Ichung’wah: Gachagua has crossed the line

National Assembly Majority Leader and Kikuyu MP Kimani Ichung’wah has called out the former Deputy President, Rigathi Gachagua, for what he termed as crossing the line over his incessant attacks and unfounded allegations against him and President William Ruto.
In a strong-worded statement shared via his X page on Wednesday, July 9, 2025, moments after Gachagua accused him of orchestrating attacks on police stations during the Saba Saba chaos, Ichung’wah laughed off the allegations as senseless and ridiculous.
Crossed the line
“My attention has been drawn to some ridiculous claims by Mr. Rigathi Gachagua, whom, for the longest time, I have resisted responding to his barrage of ridiculous and senseless accusations, out of respect, perhaps even pity, for a man still licking the wounds of his impeachment,” he said.
According to Ichungw’ah, Gachagua’s adversarial stance emanates from his impeachment as the Second Deputy President in 2024, and has since escalated to become a national threat.
“But the line has been crossed.. Mr. Rigathi Gachagua’s deep-seated bitterness, his bile, and obsessive hatred towards President William Ruto and myself have gone beyond personal grudges, they have become dangerous and now risk the very existence of our nation, not to mention our democracy. It was brewed in his pot by his politics of lies, intimidation, and calculated chaos. His anger is no longer his alone to carry; it now threatens to poison the very soul of our nation.

Ichungwa has further challenged the DCP leader to seek legal action at the International Criminal Court (ICC) if he believes he has a case and evidence that can stand the test of the courts of law.
Go to ICC
“His latest desperate act of accusing us of orchestrating the arrests of his criminal allies is as absurd as it is shameless. If he has an ounce of evidence to prove otherwise, let him take it to the ICC, the UN, or whatever rooftop he prefers. But don’t mistake accountability for persecution,” he stated.
His comments come after Gachagua, in an explosive revelation on Wednesday, July 9, 2025, stated that the attack on a police station was not carried out by Gen Z protestors but was a planned operation by individuals close to President William Ruto.
He specifically named Ichung’wah, a close ally of the president, as the mastermind.
“I want to explain. I have heard the President say our people attacked the police station. It was all stage-managed by the MP for Kikuyu,” Gachagua said.
The former deputy president questioned the official version of events, where protestors reportedly stormed the police station and stole several firearms.
“How do you explain that people can walk into a police station, and they are not armed, and take over the police station from armed police officers?” he asked.
Adding;
“How do you go to courts that are guarded by armed police officers and torch them?”
Gachagua insisted that the attacks were not spontaneous acts of violence, but part of a broader political plot designed to give the state a legal reason to charge protesters and political rivals under harsh laws.
“All these attacks on vital installations were stage-managed by William Ruto through Kimani Ichung’wah to create the opportunity to prefer charges against people using the Terrorism Act,” he claimed.
