Inspector General of police Hillary Mutyambia has given a status update into investigations of the death of two brothers from Kianjakoma, Embu.

In a statement Mutyambai gave to members of the public on Monday, August 16 the IG condoled with the family of the two brothers who met their death at the hands of police officers early this month.

“Good morning, first, my sincere condolences to the Kianjokama family. IPOA has concluded investigations on the matter and forwarded the file to the DPP for action. Meanwhile, all the officers have been suspended with immediate effect to pave way for prosecution,” Mutyambai said through his weekly session #EngageTheIG.

Mutyambai further assured members of the public that he shall ensure justice is served to the family who buried their two sons on Saturday, August 14.

“I assure you that justice for the Kianjokoma brothers will be served, but this can only be done if we allow the proper due process to take place with concrete evidence that can stand a trial in the court of justice,” Mutyambai said.

Benson Njiru Ndwiga 22 and his brother Emmanuel Mutura,19, were arrested by police two weeks ago and later their bodies were found at Embu level 5 hospital mortuary.

Their death remains a mystery with police claiming that the two jumped out of a fast-moving vehicle after they were arrested for contravening curfew hours.

Postmortem which was conducted at Embu level 5 hospital on the bodies of the two brothers showed they had multiple head injuries occasioned by being beaten with a blunt object.

In a statement of condolence to the family of the two brothers, former Prime Minister Raila Odinga prayed for God’s comfort to the family.

‘’To the Ndwiga family that has sadly had to bury their sons Emmanuel and Benson today, my sincere condolences. My prayers go to their mother, Catherine Wawira. I stand with you in this grief as a parent. No parent should ever go through the torment the Ndwigas are undergoing,’’ Raila said

The former prime minister endorsing justice for the family of the Kianjokoma family who lost their two sons Emmanuel and Benson in the hands of the police.

‘’If the criminal justice system ever works, it must for this family. I join and endorse the call for justice for the Kianjokoma brothers,’’ Raila added.
