Two court cleaners were caught on CCTV camera stealing a 55 inch TV at Milimani Law Courts on January, Saturday 22 during morning hours.

The two: David Elkanah Nyambuto aged around 25 and Andrew Orina aged 23 from Jepco cleaners company were arrested by officers from Kilimani Police Station and booked for questioning.

It is alleged that the two stole the TV from the court’s 3rd-floor where the children’s court and playground are located.

According to David Samia, the head of security at Nairobi’s Milimani Law Courts, one of the suspects, Andrew Orina also stole a mobile phone belonging to a Chief Magistrate handling criminal matters.

Orina is alleged to have stolen the said phone at the Magistrate’s private chamber while cleaning the office.

It is said that Magistrate Stella Kanyiri complained to the executive officer, one Benson Karanja that her Samsung phone worth Ksh36,000 was missing from her chambers.

“Investigations were carried out by security personnel and the matter was reported at Capital Hill Police Station, where the investigating office tracked the said phone number with the help of officials from Safaricom and it was recovered from a third party who bought the phone from the cleaner,” David said.

The two cleaners are currently held at DCI headquarters as investigators look into the matter.
