Embakasi East MP Babu Owino has boldly declared his unwavering ambition to become Kenya’s president by 2032, saying he is overqualified for the position and ready to serve the country at the highest level.

Speaking during a local radio interview on Wednesday, July 23, 2025, Babu insisted that becoming the President of Kenya is not only achievable but also his calling.

2032 lazima niwe rais kwa uwezo wa Mwenyezi Mungu,” he affirmed, adding that it’s time leaders stopped merely occupying political positions and started genuinely serving Kenyans.

When asked if he will be on the presidential ballot in 2032, Babu responded, “Achana na kuwa kwa ballot, watu wengi watakuwa kwa ballot. Lakini kuwa rais wa Kenya ni rahisi sana.

loosely translating to, “Forget about just being on the ballot; many people will be there. But becoming the president of Kenya is very easy.”

He went on to say that he is “overqualified” not just to be the president but even to govern the capital. “Niko overqualified hata kuwa Gavana wa Nairobi,” he said, pointing to his academic background, political experience, and strong connection with the youth.

The MP cited Burkina Faso’s President Ibrahim Traoré as an example of a young leader making a difference and claimed he possesses the intelligence, passion, and leadership acumen needed for a top office.

“I have what it takes – the mind, the vision, and the heart to lead,” Babu said.

When pressed about whether he would contest in 2027, Babu remained noncommittal, saying he is still consulting his supporters.

“I cannot make an early declaration because that means I have to start campaigning, and I want to focus on my current work. But I will announce by December this year,” he stated.

Babu’s remarks are likely to stir debate as the country inches closer to another election cycle. While some may dismiss his claims as youthful posturing, others see in him a serious contender with a clear generational appeal.
